M&S Chiswick High Road, London, W4

BibbEgan undertook a project to amalgamate 4 retail units on a busy high street to create a new extended M&S Foodhall.

Early works consisted of site hoardings, temporary service installations, site investigation works, total architectural and M&E strip out including full asbestos surveys and licensed asbestos removal works.

As the scheme progressed our works transitioned to the design and installation of a complex temporary works propping system to support buildings with tenants above so that we could demolish supporting internal walls to create one large ground floor retail space by designing and installing 90t of structural steel picture frames complete with RC foundations.

Due to access restrictions, all works were completed with small plant and limited lifting equipment and a required large element of on-site fabrication.

Once the propping had been removed new drainage was installed, a mixture of RC concrete floor slabs and high strength floor screeds were laid throughout. New roof coverings were installed to all buildings on site and a mixture of Gypsum, Intumescent fire protection was provided site wide, as well as security and fire rated door sets.

Works were completed working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet client constraints whilst achieving a 45/45 considerate constructors’ score.
