Coach Park at Greenwich Peninsula (O2 Arena), London, SE10

B.E.T Enabling has undertaken the works for Knight Dragon on the Greenwich Peninsula to design and build a new coach park for the O2 Arena to accommodate the relocation of up to 25 coaches and HGVs. As part of the project works, we were also to carry out the decommission of the former coach park and adjacent welfare village whilst also preparing the area for future development.

During the design stage, surveys were carried out to understand existing topography of the site whilst also carrying out load evaluations of existing electrical assets to determine the most appropriate and value engineered solution for the client.

Part of the civils design validation process including carrying out vehicle tracking studies to ensure that all required coaches and HGVs could safely access the new parking areas.

Once design was complete and site welfare was established the works commenced in the new coach park to relocation existing billboards and street lighting whilst also installing new parking access equipment, kerbs, concrete paving, power and data-ducting and supplies, surface water drainage, ARMCO barriers, pedestrian barriers, tarmac surfacing and white lining.

Works were run concurrently a short distance away from the former coach park to remove foundations from the former Silver Town Tunnel welfare village whilst at the same time existing street lighting and CCTV infrastructure was removed whilst new security fencing and site hoardings were erected to split the area into two defined development areas with new access bemouths being formed from the adjacent highway.

Works to this area also included the co-ordination and installation of a new 2Mva substation and the decommissioning of an existing 1Mva network substation due to its size and location.

B.E.T. are very proud of our involvement within the Knight Dragon Greenwich Peninsula scheme and look forward to participating in many other projects of this scale and scope.
