Palfrey Place, The Oval, London

The site was bounded to the east and west by new build residential and mixed-use developments and to the south by a four-storey Victorian town house, fronting onto Clapham Road.

The surrounding area had a mixture of retail and commercial premises with a high density of cafes, restaurants and bars. Neighbourhood relations were carefully planned and executed to achieve a harmonious environment

First, Tower demolished the existing structure and subsequently reduced the secant piles, then constructed the ring beam which was poured in situ.

On our instructions, the structural engineer designed the temporary supports to enable them to excavate the basement.

Tower’s experts installed the permanent steels and the temporary RMD shoring to the structural engineer’s designs and proceeded with the excavation of the basement.

The project was completed in budget and earlier than the programme schedule.

To achieve 100% success Tower Demolition Limited always ensure that all operatives working on site receive a Health and Safety induction before starting work. Regular meetings are held between everyone concerned to exchange information on project progress, health and safety matters.
